Biography

BIO: Alex Marwood is the pseudonym of a journalist who has worked extensively across the British press. Her bestselling debut, The Wicked Girls, won the Edgar Award for Best Paperback Original, and was nominated for Macavity, Anthony and ITW Awards. The Killer Next Door, her second novel, won a Macavity Award for Best Mystery Novel, was nominated for the Anthony and Barry awards, and has been optioned for film by James Franco and Ahna O’Reilly. The Darkest Secret, a tale of two family gatherings and a disappearance, will be released in the UK in January 2016. She lives in south London and generally works in bed.

INTERESTS: Alex is interested by the circumstances, social and psychological, that contribute to crime, in the tiny incremental steps that lead to terrible consequences. As a former journalist, she is also fascinated by the ways in which the media shapes public attitude – and can often mislead it. She is an adventurous amateur cook, and would be happiest of all living somewhere where she could snorkel every day.
