Biography

BIO: Clara Vane is the pseudonym of a former investigative researcher who has spent years embedded in urban police archives and independent crime units across Europe. Her critically acclaimed debut, Ashes in the Alley, introduced readers to her signature blend of psychological depth and procedural precision, earning nominations for the Glass Key Award and the CWA New Blood Dagger. Her follow-up novel, The Quiet Informant, became an international bestseller and was shortlisted for the Barry Award, with film rights acquired by an independent studio. Her third book, No Footprints Left, a story of buried identities and long-forgotten crimes, is set for release in early 2027. She lives in a coastal town in northern Spain and does her best writing late at night, accompanied by strong coffee and the sound of the sea.

INTERESTS: Clara is fascinated by the fragile boundary between truth and perception, particularly how memory, trauma, and environment influence criminal behavior. She is deeply interested in unsolved cases and the overlooked details that often hold the key to resolution. With a background in research, she is also intrigued by how narratives—whether in media or personal testimony—can distort or reveal reality. In her spare time, she collects vintage maps, practices amateur photography, and enjoys long solitary walks along rugged coastlines.
